Seattle awards Princess Cruises
The Port of Seattle has awarded global cruise company, Princess Cruises, with a Gold Level Green Gateway award for the line’s environmental stewardship.
Princess Cruises received the award for its environmental activities, including fitting vessels with opacity monitors and using oily water separators. The Port of Seattle also recognised the company’s waste reduction efforts which include providing used cooking oil from ships for making biodiesel.
Jan Swartz, executive vice president, Princess Cruises, said: “We’re gratified that the port has recognised us for making a difference in local environmental efforts. Passengers come to beautiful ports such as Seattle to experience the area’s natural beauty, so we are committed to doing our part to keep it that way.”
