Hyster electrifies big trucks
A project to electrify container handler trucks and 11t high capacity empty container handlers is underway at Hyster.
As part of the project, showcased at TOC Europe in Amsterdam, Hyster will be putting a 52t capacity container handling truck with an electric motor into a test phrase.
The initiative is in response to expectations that terminals should be able to electrify their big truck fleets and produce zero emissions, while achieving full shift performance, said Jan-Willem van den Brand, director of big truck product strategy & solutions at Hyster.
Hyster is also launching the 11t capacity H11XM-ECD9 Empty Container Handler which enables double handling capabilities for any empty container.
Alongside the H11XM-ECD9, there are four other new models in the H8-11XM-ECD9 series, which replaces the H18-23XM-12EC series in a bid to suit both current and future empty container handling requirements.
The Hyster Static Plus weighing system is also now available on new and existing Hyster ReachStackers and laden container handlers. The container weighing can occur during truck manoeuvring to minimise workflow disruption, while the system has a weighing error of approximately 1% of load weight.
As well as providing VGM data, the Static Plus system is designed to provide accurate information for logistics compliance and reporting.
Visitors to TOC can try out Hyster’s virtual reality simulator, which accurately re-creates the experience of using a 3t Hyster Fortens counterbalance lift truck.
