An opportunity currently exists to join the Briggs Group, an established company specialising in marine and environmental services.

The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk liquids of a flammable or hazardous characteristic and for the general upkeep and security of the establishment.

Principle Responsibilities;

  • Monitoring tank levels, particularly when filling.
  • Responding to Safety Critical System Alarms and taking appropriate action to prevent an incident.
  • Carrying out routine inspection of tank bunds. Draining surface water in bunds as necessary.
  • Dipping storage tanks and draining water from tanks in accordance with work procedures.
  • The correct operation of all Terminal Drainage Systems, Interceptors and Outfalls and adhering to procedures regarding the release of water from such systems.
  • The safe use of plant and equipment and adhering to procedures for their use.
  • Mooring / unmooring of vessels
  • Connection / disconnection of cargo lines as required
  • Safety stand-by of vessels as required
  • The operation of Terminal Pumping Systems for all product imports, exports, vehicle returns, transfers and line stripping.
  • Reporting any hazards, near misses, incidents, or any other safety related item.
  • Reporting any defects in material/plant.

Your technical profile will reflect the following;

Essential skillset;

  • Competent operator of various types of plant and equipment
  • Experience in a similar terminal operations role and handling hazardous substances
  • Full and clean UK (or approved equivalent) Driving Licence for manual vehicles

A Shift System is in operation and the successful candidate should be able to respond to onsite emergencies to meet operational demands.

Training will be provided, however candidates are expected to demonstrate an understanding of site safety regulations and the hazardous characteristics of the substances handled.
