Port Operations & Technology Consultant

About The Position:
We are searching for a full-time permanent consultant to support our Smart Ports Centre of Excellence, you’ll ideally be based in the UK, Singapore or the Netherlands and be within commutable distance of the associated office.

About The Team
The Company, renowned worldwide for port engineering design and delivery, has expanded its service range to offer Clients new services under our Smart Ports Group; this includes consulting on port/terminal operational practices and, particularly the use of technology in our industry.

We provide consulting services for port authorities wanting to make better use of land or resources, or to improve their environmental impact, through to terminal operators seeing improved cargo throughput efficiency or automation. Our consulting is worldwide, with a focus on Europe and Asia-Pacific regions.

Typical Job Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Technical Director Port Operations, in the Smart Port Centre of Excellence, and within the wider Maritime UK Advisory Group.
  • Provide expertise to our wide range of consulting services, which is evolving fast. You will be part of the team creating new service offerings to Clients worldwide, using your creativity and agility.
  • Working on projects, large and small, with our portfolio of port industry clients around the world, including government agencies and commercial global terminal operators.
  • Seeking new clients and promoting our services, developing proposals and commercial offers, in support of our business development team.
  • Playing a role in thought-leadership and conference attendance and speaking tasks.
  • Work across the range of teams and skills at Royal HaskoningDHV to ensure integration of Smart Port services with our other disciplines.

Qualification / Experience
The successful person will have a broad range of skills and experience within the consulting industry and with working experience of the port industry, including strong expertise in some or all of the below topics:

Essential -

  • At least 5 years’ consultancy experience in industrial or management arena
  • Working experience of port and terminal cargo operations or management
  • Experience of technology design, business analysis or implementation.
  • Project management expertise related to maritime and/or consulting services.
  • International experience of projects outside home country
  • Experience in marketing and sales, including online
  • Degree-level qualification

Desirable -

  • Project management certification
  • Business analysis certification
  • Second language
BIM
As Royal HaskoningDHV operate projects with a BIM approach, you are expected to be aware of the UK BIM framework (previously known as BIM Level 2), your role within it and ideally have practical experience. If this is not the case, you will be expected to undertake the relevant training courses via our Digital Academy within your first 3 months of employment should you be successful.
