Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Port Operations Department, based at the Port of Great Yarmouth.

Role Purpose: To proactively supervise the port's operational areas including vessels, quays and other working areas, ensuring all operations are conducted within Peel Ports’ written procedures.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

-Provide effective and proactive supervision and leadership of General Operatives, third party labour, contractors, and users of Port controlled quays
-To be responsible for the effective management of specific Operational Requirements as set out in the ‘Operations Responsibility Matrix’
-Work on a flexible pattern operating on a 24 hour, 7 day week basis
-Work with other Operations Supervisors, the Operations Coordinator and the Operations Planner to deliver customer-focused services and support
-Conduct risk assessments including dynamic risk assessments, ensuring the company systems, records and forms are completed accurately and on time
-Promote through effective leadership and communication, a positive Health and Safety culture that complies with business requirements and expectations
-Liaise with customers and agents to ensure provision of a professional and well organised service, maximising revenue opportunities where possible
-Adhere to our Safety365 policies to ensure the safe and efficient discharge of vessels

Required Experience
Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Previous supervisory and operational experience is essential, ideally gained within Port, Construction or Logistics industries
-Experience of vessel discharge, lifting operations and lift planning (appointed person) would be advantageous, as would experience operating Fork Lift Trucks and Cranes
-A full, valid Driving Licence is essential
-Commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures
-Possess a flexible approach to working hours – as evenings and weekends will be required – and able to work at height and in dusty environments
-Competent IT skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word
