Port of Rotterdam

Alan has worked for the Port of Rotterdam Authority since 2001. He is currently Program Manager at the Policy & Planning department. This department is responsible for the policy development and advice regarding spatial planning and environment in its broadest definition. From nature, noise management and external safety to air quality and climate change. The realization of three new spatial plans for about 10,000 hectares of the port area including an overarching, integral environmental impact assessment is one of the achievements of this department. Alan’s main focus is on energy transition, circular economy and safety. He is responsible for his department’s contribution to Port of Rotterdam’s Energy Transition Programme. Much of this work is done by pro-actively working together with partners in the ports industry, NGO’s and regulators.
