Gudrun Janssens studied Chemistry with further specializations in Environmental Sciences and Port Management at Ghent University in Belgium.
Before joining ECSA as their Director Maritime Safety and Environment, she worked as a Policy Advisor for the Belgian Ministry of Environment (OVAM) for over a decade. She outlined the Belgian policy on ships’ waste management, port reception facilities and ship recycling and was the leading environmental representative to many European and International maritime organizations, amongst others the European Sustainable Shipping Forum and the IMO.
Gudrun is a goal-driven specialist in European and international environmental maritime policy and has extensive experience in interaction and coordination with governments, intergovernmental organisations, sea-ports and their key stakeholders.
