Ingvar M. Mathisen

Port Director / CEO of Port of Oslo since August 2017. Before taking up this position, Ingvar:

  • held the same position of Port of Bodø in Northern Norway for 12 years
  • was senior adviser for an international logistics and consultancy company
  • worked for the shipping owning companies Leif Höegh in Oslo and Saudi Arabia, then Oldendorff Carriers in New Jersey, USA, in various commercial roles including as owner’s representative.

In addition, Ingvar is Chairman of HAV Eiendom, Port of Oslo’s real estate company which is developing some of Oslo’s best real estate, and member of the Council of Cruise Europe. Previously he has also held the offices of Vice-Chair and Chairman of Norwegian Ports Association, Chairman of Cruise Norway and was a member of the Royal Commission for revising the Norwegian Pilotage Act.

Ingvar holds a M. Sc. in Business from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA, USA.

When the Board of Directors of Port of Oslo hired Ingvar, they were very clear it wanted renewed focus to be on the core business, i.e. port development and increasing cargo and passenger throughput. This after an over decade long, and necessary, focus on transforming previous port areas to city development. The new mantra of Port of Oslo is “We shall grow in all of our business segments, while the emissions shall be reduced”. This is a task that only can be achieved in close collaboration with our customers, technology providers and local and national authorities.
