The Port of Calais is organising a special eco-innovation event next month

The Port of Calais will be holding a networking event on eco-innovation next month bringing together all PATCH (Ports adapting to Change) ports dedicated to working towards good environmental practices.

The event called, “Eco-innovation in infrastructures and logistics for the future”, will take place on board the newest P&O superferry, Spirit of France, on a return crossing between Calais and Dover on 9 February. Ports and operators are invited to attend.

The programme includes a presentation by consultants Royal Haskoning, on their scoping study of the Port of Calais that investigated the application of different renewable energies to ports in the future.

There will also be a presentation by Richard Tuffs from the European Regions for Research and Innovation (ERRIN) on current EU developments on eco-innovation and collaborative opportunities in future, as well as the opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services and meet new customers.

PATCH is an Interreg IVA 2 SEAS, EU Cross-Border Cooperation Programme running until 2013. It is part funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund).

The project aims to strengthen the cross-border efficiency and operation ability of the cooperation between the ports in the Channel area and the Southern North Sea - as hubs in a cross-border network of logistic and economic chains.

PATCH partner ports include Port of Oostende, CCI Calais, Port of Zeebrugge, SEEDA, Port of Ramsgate, Port of Portsmouth, Port of Newhaven, East Sussex CC, and Port of Zeeland.
