Reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Supervisor, the purpose of the role is to ensure that all of ABP's direct operations and agreed customer requirements are met at all times and in line with accepted safety, environmental working and quality standards.

As an Electrician, you will carry out both fault finding and planned electrical maintenance on port plant and equipment, following the ABPs and/or the manufacturers technical check sheets. Ensuring that all work keeps the integrity of the compliance of that machine.

*Attend non-planned electrical work on plant and equipment, during operational periods. Using fault diagnosis techniques, electrical systems drawings, electrical test meters and real time operator information, in order to locate faulty components and equipment. Once a fault has been located, then affect a high quality repair an efficient manner and in compliance with the equipment.
*Conducting visual checks, electrical testing (insulation tests, armature tests, field winding tests) and cleaning of motors and generators. Highlighting fault prevention opportunities making repairs to worn components and replacing routine components.
*Inspection of plant, equipment and electrical control systems in order to confirm their reliability, quality and condition. Action replacement or repair of components. Carry out test motions of the equipment to confirm operational status post maintenance.
*Install new electrical supplies and systems to industrial, commercial and marine/marina facilities. Including planning, identification of electrical materials required, equipment needed and time required for completion of the project.
*To diagnose, locate and rectify automotive and marine-craft electrical faults. Ensuring a highquality, compliant repair. Rectify electrical faults and recommendations from insurance inspection reports, ensuring a high quality, compliant repair.
*Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including contributing to the development and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work. Complying with and contributing to associated TBT's as required.
*Look to contribute to a continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the port operations.
*Ensure the provision of information for the 'preventative maintenance' programme within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required, in order that information may be both entered and retrieved.
*Provide support and guidance for Apprentices in undertaking the works in a safe, cost effective, technically informative and timely manner.
*Operate both ABP's owned and hired vehicles, plant and equipment subject to any necessary training having been provided.
*Undertake other any other works of a reasonable request with both their trade and other disciplines subject to either appropriate training or ability to carry out the works.

Skills and Experience

*A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
*Time served with an Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) in an electrical bias.
*Electrical experience in an industrial engineering environment that would contain, single and three phase power supplies, cranes and material handling equipment (diesel & electric) forklift trucks, load shovels, terminal tractors (Tugs), Estate high level lighting, existing and new works industrial and commercial installations.
*The ability to problem solve and fault find in a clear, logical manner.
*Proficient in reading and using electrical drawings and technical software information to problem solve.
*Previous experience in some or all areas of working with, AC and DC control systems, PLC Systems, Heavy plant and equipment, Auto electrics, Commercial and industrial installations, Marine equipment CCTV, Security systems.
*Ability to work with fast changing work priorities in a highly pressurised and demanding environment. Frequent periods of concentration on highly complex technical problems whilst under pressure to return the equipment to service.
*Frequent climbing and working at height is required and the ability to use general and specialised diagnostic equipment.
*Service and Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
*Sound I.T skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word.
*Full UK Driving Licence.
*Willingness to travel to other ABP ports and business travel UK wide and overseas.
*Be flexible with working hours to suite the engineering and operational requirements across the business units.

* Previous experience of working in a port or similar environment.
* Experience of a computerised work order system.
* 17th Edition IEE Regulations qualification.
* Good understanding of the companies Policies, Procedures.
* Experience of operating plant and equipment.
* First Aid at Work qualification.
