Shoreham Port is a busy commercial short sea shipping port on the south coast of England just west of Brighton. The Port handles c.900 ship calls per annum with maximum size ships up to 5000t/120m in length

The key cargoes imported include timber, steel, aggregates, sand, salt, rock wool, with exports of cereals, woodchip and glass.

The Port has a thriving Operations Division, which handles the stevedoring, agency, warehousing and haulage for cargoes imported and exported through our common user terminals.

With 48 Operations staff, 46,000m2 of warehousing, 5 Sennebogen cranes and 39 forklifts, ensures an efficient and first class service is provided to our customers.

Owing to retirement, we are now looking to recruit a new Commercial/Operations Director to join the Senior Leadership Team, reporting through to the Chief Executive.

The successful candidate will enjoy maintaining and developing key customer relationships and ensuring that excellent customer service is maintained, as well as growing and diversifying the business in a very competitive environment.

The post holder will have full P&L accountability and be responsible for the safe day to day running of the whole department.

You will be a leader who is self- motivated, can inspire and motivate a team, communicate clearly and easily with a broad range of customers, both in the UK and Baltics, and are commercially astute.

Ideally you will have worked in/around a Port environment before, with knowledge of health and safety and the need for continuous improvement.
